MILWAUKEE, WI

This project was an entrepreneurial venture with an 'architect as developer' strategy. While architects most commonly work with clients in extending desire, function, and budget into inspirational and visionary territories, this practice model allows the architect to maximize yield in the discipline; designer + client. The site is located on the southside of Milwaukee adjacent to the thriving neighborhood of Bay View as well as in the proximity of interstate and downtown. The design of the duplex itself strikes a balance between open contemporary dwelling and overall square footage. The angular position of the building was derived by finding an equilibrium between the interior & exterior spaces and street frontage requirements established by the city zoning ordinances.

While the project was set to move forward, the prevailing cost of construction moved the return on investment out of a comfortable margin.
